The Hackathon Experience

A hackathon is a fast-paced, collaborative event where teams work intensively over several days to create AI-driven solutions.

Participants can expect to:

  • Learn emerging AI tools and approaches
  • Build practical prototypes or proofs of concept
  • Develop teamwork, coding, and problem-solving skills
  • Network with industry partners and researchers
  • Take part in social and networking activities

For Companies

Submit a Real-World AI Challenge

This is an opportunity for organisations to be represented at the event and work directly with talented students and researchers as they tackle your AI or machine learning problem.

The company will gain:

  • Solutions or prototypes addressing your real business challenge

  • Fresh perspectives from multidisciplinary teams

  • Early access to emerging talent

  • Engagement with University of Birmingham researchers and PIs

To submit a challenge, the company must:

  • Provide a clearly defined problem

  • Supply data if the challenge involves building a new model

  • Have a company representative present on Day 1 and Day 4 of the event

If you’re unsure whether your company's challenge is suitable, we can help refine it.
